How does the activity run?
-
You will receive 2 single seat hovercraft for the session. We offer either a practice and then timed competition, a head to head challenge, or a team relay event. This is normally down to skill levles and conditions on the day.
-
What is the minimum/maximum group size?
-
We do not have a minimum number but a group of 6 and under, we reserve the right to mix you with another party (up to a group size of 12). Our maximum group size is 12 people, if your group size is larger than this we may run with more vehicles and, or provide you with more time, or dependant on your activity choice you will be split over 2 or more activities. In certain circumstances such as a small group where your health and safety could be at risk from over confidence, we may reduce this time. Alternatively if you are acting beyond what Max Events, or our instructors deem safe/acceptable, you will be asked to leave the activity. No refunds will apply for misuse of equipment.
-
How long does the session last?
-
Each activity runs for 1 hour in Oxford. If you just book the hovercraft, that will last for one hour. If you book a package of 3 activities they will last 3 hours etc.
-
How long will I be on site?
-
This is dependant on the package booked but we ask that you arrive half an hour prior to the start of your activities, and you will need at least 15 minutes from when the activities have finished to getting in your car.
-
Minimum age
-
No driving license or pilot license is required but participants must be 17 and over.
-
Maximum weight
-
The hovercraft have plenty of power but remember your floating on a bed of air, give it a chance if you're over 18 stone it can be a struggle, and is really the limit.
-
Am I insured?
-
Max Events carries £5 million public liability insurance. This covers us and you in the event of our negligence. You are provided with all instruction necessary to complete the activity safely, if you operate any equipment beyond your ability or the boundaries that we provide you will not be covered, it does not cover you for acts of stupidity or if an incident arises beyond our control.
-
Can we operate in any weather?
-
Unfortunately we cannot control the weather. In most cases we work very hard to ensure your event runs smoothly and with the required activities in your booking. Hovercraft is an activity which is very much affected by the wind and if it is particularly windy we may have a health and safety issue. We would try and make contact in the week prior to your arrival and offer some alternative suggestions but it may occur on the day, in extreme circumstances we may have to offer an alternative activity which carries an equal or greater value.
-
Will I get dirty / Do you provide overalls?
-
This is dependant on the weather. Hot and sunny you will get dusty, and if raining you will get wet but you should not get too muddy. We do not provide overalls for each individual person, we do have a range of overalls for sale on the day, prices start at £2.00 and in most cases this is enough to keep you relatively clean.
-
Do you provide gloves?
-
No but if you require we may have some in stock to purchase.
-
Do I need specific footwear or clothing?
-
Either trainers or walking boots are a must. You must wear shoes that will not fall off, and that cover the whole foot, i.e no flip flops. Clothing suitable for the activity trying to look like Biggles might sound great until the scarf gets caught in the fan blades!
-
Can I bring my own helmet?
-
Yes if it conforms to European standard.
-
Do I have to wear a helmet?
-
Yes in all circumstances to comply with our insurance helmets are compulsory.
-
Can I wear fancy dress?
-
Yes, so long as it does not have the potential to be caught in any moving parts, does not impair vision, means you are still wearing the correct footwear and can wear a helmet and also maintains a level of hygiene for the next person. Please ask prior to arrival to avoid disappointment.
-
Do you provide any safety equipment?
-
Yes we provide all necessary safety equipment for each activity, as outlined by our insurance obligations.
