Get to our Bristol activity centre for some competitive axe throwing. Learn your new skill for the day, and we'll have you throwing these tomahawks like a Native American in the Old West. We dont just keep you standing in one place, the test comes as we move you further back from the target. Can you achieve two or three rotations of axe, will you end up as a Pocahontas or Great Chief Sitting Bull?

Axe throwing is still proving to be one of our most popular activities with both stag and hen parties in 2021. Create a great mix of top shot target sports, or add in a driving activty. How does the activity run?

We have up to four people throwing axes dependant on group size.

Why not have more people throwing axes?

Our experience shows that the danger of a 'bounce back' where the axe can rebound from a target makes it more dangerous to have more people throwing. Also as its more to do with technique you benefit from the instructor guidance and ultimately it allows us to move you further away from the target, to land the axe from greater distances. In the \bristol 4 x2 package we have 4 or more people throwing as we only throw from one distance, giving you the experience of axe throwing.

Does Axe throwing require a lot of strength to take part?

No we use American tomahawks, designed to be used in one hand and perfect for throwing. It becomes more about technique the further you move back from the target, requiring more skill and concentration than just strength.

What is the minimum/maximum group size?

On Saturday we operate a minimum group size of 6. up to a maximum team size of 12 people, if your group size is larger than this you will be split over 2 or more tracks or you will be provided with more time. If you have a group of less than 6 people we suggest you call in the week running up to the day you would like to come, as we may have some space we can offer you, in this case we reserve the right to mix you with another party, alternatively you can pay for 6 people.

What day can i book, are you only open at weekends?

Predominately we are open on Saturday for group bookings, but do open during the week. Any booking would be subject to availability and group size. Please call to discuss options.

How long does the session last?

Each activity runs for 1 hour in Bristol. If you just book just the axe throwing, that will last for one hour.

If your group size is over 12 people we will either split you into 2 teams or more, or provide more time.

In certain circumstances such as a small group where your health and safety could be at risk from over confidence, we may reduce this time. Alternatively if you are acting beyond what Max Events, or our instructors deem safe/acceptable, you will be asked to leave the activity. No refunds will apply for misuse of equipment.

How long will I be on site?
This is dependant on the package booked but we ask that you arrive half hour prior to the start of your activities, and you will need at least 15 minutes from when the activities have finished to getting in your car.

Am I insured?
Max Events carries £5 million public liability insurance. This covers us and you in the event of our negligence. You are provided with all instruction necessary to complete the activity safely, if you operate any equipment beyond your ability or the boundaries that we provide you will not be covered, it does not cover you for acts of stupidity or if an incident arises beyond our control.

Can we operate in any weather?
Unfortunately we cannot control the weather. In most cases we work very hard to ensure your event runs smoothly and with the required activities in your booking. If we feel we have a health and safety issue we would try and make contact in the week prior to your arrival and offer some alternative suggestions. In extreme circumstances on the day we may have to offer an alternative activity which carries an equal or greater value.

Will I get dirty / Do you provide overalls?

If your just doing Axe throwing you wont get muddy.

Can I wear fancy dress?
Yes, if you like the look of a Viking, or Sitting Bull or Pocahontas herself, it’s not a problem
