How does the activity run?
How does the activity run?
For paintball groups are divided into two teams for a selection of classic paintball games. We normally run half of the number of quads for your group size, but dependant on your skill levels can run a minimum of a third of the number of quads for your group size. We have between two and 5 people throwing axes at a variety of different sized targets, and at different distances, which is when it gets competitive. On Archery we have between two and 6 people shooting at one time dependent on group size and time available. We offer a practice and competition

Our quad biking is a physical activity. By splitting the group into 2 this allows for people to have a breather in between drives. This makes the session more relaxed and potentially the small break allows the driver to relax and refresh. The safe waiting is track side so whilst waiting you are able to watch the other part of the group. Our experience shows that the danger of a 'bounce back' where the axe can rebound from a target makes it more dangerous to have more people throwing. Also as its more to do with technique you benefit from the instructor guidance and ultimately it allows us to move you further away from the target, to land the axe from greater distances. All activities we offer have an element of danger. We prefer to start with fewer people which enables us to give better instruction and deal with larger numbers as we progress

Yes, the packages include paintballs at a discounted rate, but balls can be purchased on the day at £10 per hundred balls,
Do the activities require a lot of strength to take part?
Do the activities require a lot of strength to take part?
No we use American tomahawks, designed to be used in one hand and perfect for throwing. It becomes more about technique the further you move back from the target, requiring more skill and concentration than just strength. With archery not necessarily, the objective is to keep the bow steady so we use lightweight training bows. Archery is more about the technique and consistency, this requires more skill and concentration than just strength.

In a nutshell (especially there), It can do, the guns are set to a certain power, but they still have to make the ball fly out of the end of the barrel. We suggest baggy clothes/overalls to absorb some impact. We also try and ensure fair play so if you are too close to someone, allow them to surrender (this doesn't always work). We are not responsible for any bruises or pain that may be caused from playing paintball.

Ideally if we have no other bookings you need at least 10 people as a group to play 5 a side. Paintball is played with other people, so your group will be mixed. If other people are playing then you can just book yourself into play.

Predominantly we are open on Saturday for group bookings, but do open during the week. Any booking would be subject to availability and group size. Please call to discuss options.

Paintball is separate from our other activities and we suggest allowing a minimum of 2 1/2 hours for paintball, but you can book it for up to 8 hours if you want. Each activity slot is dependent on your group size. As a guide 1-6 people it will take 30 minutes, 8-10 people 45 minutes and 11-15 people one hour. Time is influenced by how many are throwing at one time. In certain circumstances such as a small group where your health and safety could be at risk from overconfidence, we may reduce this time. Alternatively if you are acting beyond what Max Events, or our instructors deem safe/acceptable, you will be asked to leave the activity. No refunds will apply for misuse of equipment.

This is dependant on the package booked but we ask that you arrive half hour prior to the start of your activities, and you will need at least 15 minutes from when the activities have finished to getting in your car.

No driving license is required but drivers must be 16 and over. The quads have plenty of power but are designed for a maximum of 23 stone or 150 kg.

No. We need to ensure that all equipment is safe and to the required standard. We play with the same marker (gun) to maintain fair play.

Max Events carries £5 million public liability insurance. This covers us and you in the event of our negligence subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. By taking part in an activity you are accepting that there are risks, you are provided with all instruction necessary to complete the activity safely, if you choose to ignore our instructions and operate any equipment beyond your ability or the boundaries that we provide then you will not be covered, it does not cover you for acts of stupidity or if an incident arises beyond our control. Please be aware any activity we offer can result in injury or death.

Paintball is a physical sport, and potentially a painful one, the site is open woodland and undulating field so does require a reasonable amount of mobility. Both hands are required to fire the gun. It is a requirement for players to be able to control this functions. You may simply like to hide behind a big tree, but you may like take part in running, jumping, crouching down, or falling flat on the floor. Please be aware of your own capabilities. Our Ranges are designed to be used with shooters in a standing upright position. One hand holds/supports the bow, the other pulls the sting back. It is a requirement for a participant to be able to control all these functions. We may in some cases be able to provide a lane for wheelchair users, please call to check. Our Axes are designed to be thrown one handed and from a standing upright position. It is a requirement for a participant to be able to control all these functions. We may in some cases be able to provide a lane for wheelchair users, please call to check. Quad biking does require good balance, one leg either side of the saddle for stability and hands on the steering, the throttle is on the right hand side of the bike, brakes on the left and right, and emergency engine kill switch is on the left hand side of the handle bars. It is a requirement for a rider to be able to control all these functions. For your safety please contact us before your event day if any of your group has any Medical, Physical or Mental conditions or disabilities which might affect them taking part in the activities.

Unfortunately we cannot control the weather. We work very hard to ensure your event runs smoothly and with the required activities in your booking. If we feel we have a health and safety issue we would try and make contact in the week prior to your arrival and offer some alternative suggestions. In extreme circumstances on the day we may have to offer an alternative activity which carries an equal or greater value. Please be aware no refunds will be made if we are open and you cannot make the event, for whatever reason.

Yes we provide all necessary safety equipment for each activity, as outlined by our insurance obligations. In all circumstances to comply with our insurance, helmets are compulsory. You can bring your own helmet as long as it conforms to British safety standards. For paintball in all circumstances to comply with our insurance and for common sense, face masks are compulsory. If you remove your face mask during play, you may be asked to leave, but it also invalidates your insurance cover. You will not be covered for any incidents in this case.

All our tracks are outdoors so this is dependant on the weather. Hot and sunny you will get dusty, wet and you will get muddy. We do provide overalls if its wet and muddy but not fresh for each individual person, we do have a range of overalls for sale on the day, prices start at £2.00 and in most cases this is enough to keep you relatively clean. We do provide overalls for paintball

Loose fitting layered clothing, so you can remove some if you get too hot, and replace when cooling down. Either trainers or walking boots are a must. Its handy to have a bit of grip. You must wear shoes that will not fall off, and that cover the whole foot, i.e no flip flops. Yes, so long as it does not have the potential to be caught in any moving parts, does not impair vision, means you are still wearing the correct footwear and safety gear.
