How does the activity run?
How does the activity run?
We have between 2 and 5 people throwing axes at a variety of different sized targets, and at different distances, which is when it gets competitive. We normally use a manual drive off road vehicle. The instructor sits in the passenger seat to maintain control, with a variety of passengers (between 1 and 4) in the back issuing directions. If capable everyone drives and navigates, if you have younger party members, they will navigate you. We have between 2 and 6 people shooting at one time dependent on group size and time available. We offer a practice and competition On clays you will receive 1 instructor per group. the package includes 20 shots, with a practice and competition .
Why not have more taking part?
Why not have more taking part?
Our experience shows that the danger of a 'bounce back' where the axe can rebound from a target makes it more dangerous to have more people throwing. Also as its more to do with technique you benefit from the instructor guidance and ultimately it allows us to move you further away from the target, to land the axe from greater distances. All activities we offer have an element of danger. We prefer to start with fewer people which enables us to give better instruction and deal with larger numbers as we progress
Do the activities require a lot of strength to take part?
Do the activities require a lot of strength to take part?
No we use American tomahawks, designed to be used in one hand and perfect for throwing. It becomes more about technique the further you move back from the target, requiring more skill and concentration than just strength. With Archery not necessarily, the objective is to keep the bow steady so we use lightweight training bows. Archery is more about the technique and consistency, this requires more skill and concentration than just strength. In Bristol the guns we use are standard over and under 12 gauge shotguns. In Bournemouth due to planning restrictions we use a moderated hushpower semi auto. The guns can become heavy whilst taking part. There is no problem with the instructor assisting and taking some of the weight, or if you would like to take a break, that is no problem. With some advance warning we maybe able to provide a lighter gun. If you are concerned please let us know when booking.
What is the minimum/maximum group size?
What is the minimum/maximum group size?
There is no minimum group size and up to a maximum group size of 48 people, if your group size is larger than this you will be split over 2 or more lanes or you will be provided with more time. If you have a group of less than 6 people we reserve the right to mix you with another party.
What day can i book, are you only open at weekends?
What day can i book, are you only open at weekends?
Predominantly we are open on Saturday for group bookings, but do open during the week. Any booking would be subject to availability and group size. Please call to discuss options.
How long does the session last?
How long does the session last?
Each activity slot is dependent on your group size. As a guide, for each activity 1-6 people it will take 30 minutes, 8-10 people 45 minutes and 11-15 people one hour. So Double this time if you are doing 2 activities, triple time for 3 activities and so on. In certain circumstances such as a small group where your health and safety could be at risk from overconfidence, we may reduce this time. Alternatively if you are acting beyond what Max Events, or our instructors deem safe/acceptable, you will be asked to leave the activity. No refunds will apply for misuse of equipment.
How long will I be on site?
How long will I be on site?
This is dependant on the package booked but we ask that you arrive half hour prior to the start of your activities, and you will need at least 15 minutes from when the activities have finished to getting in your car.
Do I need a driving license? Are there any age, weight restrictions
Do I need a driving license? Are there any age, weight restrictions
No license is required and there is no requirement specifically on age. In order to drive you must have some driving experience. If you have younger people, or non drivers in the group we will do our best to try and get the driving but it maybe they provide the navigation only. No gun license is required. You must however be physically able to hold the gun. For this reason we suggest a minimum age of 12+ years. Please advise if anyone in your group is under 16. The Firearms act of 1968 states you can shoot under supervision at any age. Under the current law you are allowed to handle a shotgun without a license under supervision from the license holder (us), as long as you have not received a previous conviction preventing you from doing so. If you are unsure please ask.
Am I insured?
Am I insured?

I have Medical/Physical concerns?
I have Medical/Physical concerns?
Our Axes are designed to be thrown one handed and from a standing upright position. It is a requirement for a participant to be able to control all these functions. We may in some cases be able to provide a lane for wheelchair users, please call to check. The Blind drive requirements are that there must be at least 1 hand on the steering wheel whilst driving. We do tend to use manual drive so it is important to be able to control the clutch, brake and accelerator. It is a requirement for a rider to be able to control all these functions. Our Archery Ranges are designed to be used with shooters in a standing upright position. One hand holds/supports the bow, the other pulls the sting back. It is a requirement for a participant to be able to control all these functions. We may in some cases be able to provide a lane for wheelchair users, please call to check. For your safety please contact us before your event day if any of your group has any Medical, Physical or Mental conditions or disabilities which might affect them taking part in the activities.
Can we operate in any weather?
Can we operate in any weather?
Unfortunately we cannot control the weather. We work very hard to ensure your event runs smoothly and with the required activities in your booking. If we feel we have a health and safety issue we would try and make contact in the week prior to your arrival and offer some alternative suggestions. In extreme circumstances on the day we may have to offer an alternative activity which carries an equal or greater value. Please be aware no refunds will be made if we are open and you cannot make the event, for whatever reason.
Will I get dirty / Do you provide overalls?
Will I get dirty / Do you provide overalls?
All our tracks are outdoors so this is dependant on the weather. Hot and sunny you will get dusty, wet and you will get muddy. We do provide overalls if its wet and muddy but not fresh for each individual person, we do have a range of overalls for sale on the day, prices start at £2.00 and in most cases this is enough to keep you relatively clean.
Can I wear fancy dress?
Can I wear fancy dress?
Yes, it’s not a problem, so long as it does not have the potential to be caught in any moving parts, does not impair vision, means you are still wearing the correct footwear and safety gear.
