How does the activity run?
We offer practice and then timed competition. We don't run head to head races as the equipment is built to be bigger and faster than other vehicles used at other centres. We want you to experience the drive, if you want grand prix, go go-karting instead!
Will we reach top speed?
No. The design of the course is set restrict your speed. The vehicles are designed with great acceleration, allowing you to come on and off the gas, and show off your driving skills, as you navigate around the track.
What is the minimum/maximum group size?
We don't operate with a minimum group size, but it’s more fun to take part with someone rather than on your own, you can at least compare your skills. We reserve the right to mix parties off less than 6 people. We guarantee a specific activity time regardless of group size.
What day can i book, are you only open Monday to Friday?
The activity centre is open 7 days a week, excluding our Bournemouth centre which is closed on Sundays. All bookings are subject to availability and group size. Please call to discuss options.
How long does the session last?
It depends whether you have a standard, large or max session. The activity briefing will take roughly 15 minutes and then the specific time on an activity.
A standard session guarantees a drive time of 10 minutes, a Large session 15 minutes and max session 20 minutes drive time. These times are guaranteed and even our standard drive time provides more than many competitors. It will still take a group of 2 people roughly 45 minutes to get through a standard session as we do not rush the experience and can provide a couple of drives, with breaks in between, allowing for hints and tips.
If you are acting beyond what Max Events, or our instructors deem safe/acceptable, you will be asked to leave the activity. No refunds will apply for misuse of equipment.
How long will I be on site?
This is dependant on the package booked but we ask that you arrive half hour prior to the start of your activities, and you will need at least 15 minutes from when the activities have finished to getting in your car.
Duration is dependant on your activity choices but as a rule of thumb, If you book one activity you will be roughly on site for 1hr 30 min, 2 activities just over 2 hours, 3 activities 3 hours and so on.
Minimum age
Drivers must be 18 and over.
Do I need a driving license?
No driving license is required.
Maximum weight and height
The buggies have plenty of power but if you're over 20 stone it can be a squeeze to get in and out. It can depend on your build but 20 stone is really the limit. Maximum height for a comfortable drive is 6ft6.
Am I insured?
Max Events carries £5 million public liability insurance. This covers us and you in the event of our negligence subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. By taking part in an activity you are accepting that there are risks, you are provided with all instruction necessary to complete the activity safely, if you choose to ignore our instructions and operate any equipment beyond your ability or the boundaries that we provide then you will not be covered, it does not cover you for acts of stupidity or if an incident arises beyond our control.
Medical, Physical concerns
The off road buggies requirements are that there must be 2 hands on the steering wheel whilst driving, the emergency kill switch is operated with the left hand. The accelerator and brake are both controlled with the right leg, similar to driving an automatic car. It is a requirement for a rider to be able to control all these functions. For your safety please contact us before your event day if any of your group has any Medical, Physical or Mental conditions or disabilities which might affect them taking part in the activities.
Can we operate in any weather?
Unfortunately we cannot control the weather. We work very hard to ensure your event runs smoothly and with the required activities in your booking. If we feel we have a health and safety issue we would try and make contact in the week prior to your arrival and offer some alternative suggestions. In extreme circumstances on the day we may have to offer an alternative activity which carries an equal or greater value. Please be aware no refunds will be made if we are open and you cannot make the event, for whatever reason.
Will I get dirty / Do you provide overalls?
This is dependant on the weather. Hot and sunny you will get dusty, wet and you will get muddy. We do not provide overalls for each individual person, we do have a range of overalls for sale on the day, prices start at £2.00 and in most cases this is enough to keep you relatively clean.
Do you provide gloves?
No but if you require we may have some in stock to purchase.
Do I need specific footwear?
Either trainers or walking boots are a must. You must wear shoes that will not fall off, and that cover the whole foot, i.e. no flip flops.
Can I bring my own helmet?
Yes if it conforms to European standard.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes in all circumstances to comply with our insurance helmets are compulsory.
Do you provide any safety equipment?
