What is the minimum/maximum group size?
We don't operate with a minimum group size, but it’s more fun to take part with someone rather than on your own, you can at least compare your skills. We reserve the right to mix parties off less than 6 people
What day can i book, are you only open Monday to Friday?
The activity centre is open 7 days a week, excluding our Bournemouth centre which is closed on Sundays. All bookings are subject to availability and group size. Please call to discuss options.
How long does the session last?
It depends whether you have a standard, large or max session, and your skill level. The activity briefing will take roughly 15 minutes and then the specific time on an activity.
Our standard session offers 18 shots. For a group of 1-4 people, the activity time will be around 30 minutes, 5-6 people 45 minutes, 7-9 people, 60 minutes and 10- 12 people around 75 minutes. Our larger 30 shot package allow for 1-4 people 45 minutes, 5-6 people 60 minutes, 7-9 people 90 minutes and 10-12 people around 120 minutes.
If you are acting beyond what Max Events, or our instructors deem safe/acceptable, you will be asked to leave the activity. No refunds will apply for misuse of equipment.
Can I make the session longer or can I have more shots?
Yes to increase the session time will be dependant on how many shots you would like. All you need to decide is how many and we can tailor the activity to your needs. If you are unsure of the best solution please just ask. If you would like to purchase more shots on the day, that maybe possible dependant on availability, please ask.
How long will I be on site?
This is dependant on the package booked but we ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your activities, and you will need at least 15 minutes from when the activities have finished to getting in your car.
Duration is dependant on your activity choices but as a rule of thumb, If you book one activity you will be roughly on site for 1hr 30 min, 2 activities just over 2 hours, 3 activities 3 hours and so on.
Minimum age
There is no requirement specifically on age. You must however be physically able to hold the gun. For this reason we suggest a minimum age of 16 years.
Am I allowed to shoot?
The Firearms act of 1968 states you can shoot under supervision at any age. Under the current law you are allowed to handle a shotgun without a license under supervision from the license holder, as long as you have not received a previous conviction preventing you from doing so. If you are unsure please ask.
Do I need any license?
No license is required.
I am worried I will not be able to lift the gun as I am quite small. Do you have smaller guns?
We cannot guarantee that a varied selection of guns will be available. With some advance warning we maybe able to provide a lighter gun. If you are concerned please let us know when booking.
Am I insured?
Max Events carries £5 million public liability insurance. This covers us and you in the event of our negligence subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. By taking part in an activity you are accepting that there are risks, you are provided with all instruction necessary to complete the activity safely, if you choose to ignore our instructions and operate any equipment beyond your ability or the boundaries that we provide then you will not be covered, it does not cover you for acts of stupidity or if an incident arises beyond our control.
Medical, Physical concerns
Our Ranges are designed to be used with shooters in a standing upright position. One arm holds/supports the barrel, the other hand is used to control the trigger. It is a requirement for a participant to be able to control all these functions. We may in some cases be able to provide a lane for wheelchair users, please call to check. Any firearm we use, does have an element of recoil which may aggravate an existing shoulder/collarbone injury. For your safety please contact us before your event day if any of your group has any Medical, Physical or Mental conditions or disabilities which might affect them taking part in the activities.
Can we operate in any weather?
Unfortunately we cannot control the weather. We work very hard to ensure your event runs smoothly and with the required activities in your booking. If we feel we have a health and safety issue we would try and make contact in the week prior to your arrival and offer some alternative suggestions. In extreme circumstances on the day we may have to offer an alternative activity which carries an equal or greater value. Please be aware no refunds will be made if we are open and you cannot make the event, for whatever reason.
Do you provide any safety equipment?
Yes we provide all necessary safety equipment for each activity, as outlined by our insurance obligations. Ear Defenders are provided and compulsory to protect your hearing.
I have my own gun, can I bring it?
In most instances unfortunately not. Our insurance dictates that we would need to check the gun for its safe use, and this impacts on the time within the session.
Will I get dirty / Do you provide overalls?
No, if your just doing this activity you wont get muddy.
Do I need specific footwear?
Either trainers or walking boots are a must. You must wear shoes that will not fall off, and that cover the whole foot, i.e no flip flops.
Can I wear fancy dress?
Yes, so long as it does not have the potential to be caught in any moving parts, does not impair vision, means you are still wearing the correct footwear and safety gear.
