The stag at the wheel of a range rover on the blind drive activity

Blind Driving Experience near Bristol, Bournemouth and Oxford

There is nothing like venturing into the unknown, especially when you can't see a thing. The idea is fairly straight forward. Pop on a blindfold and jump in the driver's seat and drive.

Don't panic once you've taken your place in the hot seat and the blindfold is on your teammates are there to guide you round the course. Not being able to see is incredibly disorientating but why not make it even more challenging by changing the words for left, right, forward and back. An instructor with nerves of steel will sit in the front with you, their hand ready on the brake in case things go pear shaped and you deviate from the track. You don't even need a driving license for this mayhem, just absolute trust. A fun, group activity that requires good communication to get the best time, but will you be talking to your team at the end?

Available at all of our activity centres, so if you're looking for fun things to do in Bristol, our activity centre is just 5 minutes from the Mall at Cribbs Causeway. Our Dorset centre is less than 30 minutes from Weymouth and Poole and 40 minutes from Bournemouth, and our Oxford venue is only 15 minutes from the city centre.

Blind driving requires minimum 2 people and those with experience of driving, those without get to navigate - please advise if you have team members who dont dive.

Prices For Blindfold driving

Standard session for £40

How does the activity run?

We use a manual drive off road vehicle. The instructor sits in the passenger seat to maintain control, with a variety of passengers in the back issuing directions. If capable everyone drives and navigates, if you have younger party members, they will navigate you.

What is the minimum/maximum group size?

We do require a minimum group size of 2, at least 1 driver and navigator. We reserve the right to mix parties off less than 6 people.

What day can i book, are you only open Monday to Friday?

The activity centre is open 7 days a week, excluding our Bournemouth centre which is closed on Sundays. All bookings are subject to availability and group size. Please call to discuss options.

How long does the session last?

It does depend on your group size and your skill level. The activity briefing will take roughly 15 minutes and then the specific time on an activity.

If you are acting beyond what Max Events, or our instructors deem safe/acceptable, you will be asked to leave the activity. No refunds will apply for misuse of equipment.

How long will I be on site?

This is dependant on the package booked but we ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your activities, and you will need at least 15 minutes from when the activities have finished to getting in your car.

Duration is dependant on your activity choices but as a rule of thumb, If you book one activity you will be roughly on site for 1hr 30 min, 2 activities just over 2 hours, 3 activities 3 hours and so on.

Is there a minimum age?

The minimum age for participation is 12 but for driving is 18 unless you have a license

Do I need a driving license?

No driving license is required, you don't need a driving license as it all takes place on private land. Previous driving experience is preferred but not essential, just let us know if you haven't driven before, any questions please let us know. Drivers must be 18 and over, unless you have a license.

I have never driven off road, or in a 4x4, is this a problem?

No, it’s not a problem, the vehicles stay in a low gear so it’s just like driving a normal car.

Am I insured?

Max Events carries £5 million public liability insurance. This covers us and you in the event of our negligence subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. By taking part in an activity you are accepting that there are risks, you are provided with all instruction necessary to complete the activity safely, if you choose to ignore our instructions and operate any equipment beyond your ability or the boundaries that we provide then you will not be covered, it does not cover you for acts of stupidity or if an incident arises beyond our control.

Medical, Physical concerns

The Blind drive requirements are that there must be at least 1 hand on the steering wheel whilst driving. We do tend to use manual drive so it is important to be able to control the clutch, brake and accelerator. It is a requirement for a rider to be able to control all these functions. For your safety please contact us before your event day if any of your group has any Medical, Physical or Mental conditions or disabilities which might affect them taking part in the activities.

Do you provide any safety equipment?

Yes we provide all necessary safety equipment for each activity, as outlined by our insurance obligations.

Can we operate in any weather?

Unfortunately we cannot control the weather. We work very hard to ensure your event runs smoothly and with the required activities in your booking. If we feel we have a health and safety issue we would try and make contact in the week prior to your arrival and offer some alternative suggestions. In extreme circumstances on the day we may have to offer an alternative activity which carries an equal or greater value.  Please be aware no refunds will be made if we are open and you cannot make the event, for whatever reason.

Will I get dirty / Do you provide overalls?

All our tracks are outdoors so this is dependant on the weather. Hot and sunny you will get dusty, wet and you will get muddy. We do not provide overalls for each individual person, we do have a range of overalls for sale on the day, prices start at £2.00 and in most cases this is enough to keep you relatively clean.

Do I need specific footwear?

Either trainers or walking boots are a must. You must wear shoes that will not fall off, and that cover the whole foot, i.e no flip flops.

Can I wear fancy dress?

Yes, so long as it does not have the potential to be caught in any moving parts, does not impair vision, means you are still wearing the correct footwear.
