Assault Rifle ready for action

Assault Rifle shooting Shooting near Bristol and Bournemouth

A unique activity experience offering something slightly different. Max Events is one of the only centres in the UK where you get to handle Assault Rifles. With one-to-one instruction, you’ll soon be sighted in and sending lead into 3D zombie dummies, reactive targets, or trying to beat the clock on the shooting tree.

We offer 3 different options starting with 30 shots, but we know how addictive this can be, so you can Go Large with a 40 shot option or Max out with a 50 shot choice. All options provide multiple magazine changes and shooting at a selection of different targets, starting with a paper target for practice and scoring, and finishing with the shooting tree, to see who can knock the targets round in the quickest time. A cool head, calm breathing and steady hand will win the day on this activity.

This activity is only available at our Bristol site close to the M5 and our Dorset centre. If your looking at our Oxford venue we can offer Air rifle shooting. For those younger than 14 we can also offer air rifles in Bristol or the Dorset centre. We have plenty of activities on offer, so why not make a day of it and add some target sports to see who wins top shot, or mix it with some driving activities to see who is top dog overall. We provide different activity times catering to all budgets and group sizes and experience. Please see our FAQs if you have any questions

What is the minimum/maximum group size?

We don't operate with a minimum group size, but it’s more fun to take part with someone rather than on your own, you can at least compare your skills. We reserve the right to mix parties off less than 6 people.

What day can i book, are you only open Monday to Friday?

The activity centre is open 7 days a week, excluding our Bournemouth centre which is closed on Sundays. All bookings are subject to availability and group size. Please call to discuss options.

How long does the session last?

It depends whether you have a standard, large or max session, and your skill level. The activity briefing will take roughly 15 minutes and then the specific time on an activity.

Our standard session offers 30 shots. For a group of 1-4 people, the activity time will be around 30 minutes, 5-8 people 45 minutes, 9-12 people, 60 minutes. Our larger shot options allow for 1-4 people 45 minutes, 5-8 people 60 minutes, 9-12 people 90 minutes.

If you are acting beyond what Max Events, or our instructors deem safe/acceptable, you will be asked to leave the activity. No refunds will apply for misuse of equipment.

Can I make the session longer or can I have more shots?

Yes to increase the session time will be dependant on how many shots you would like. All you need to decide is how many and we can tailor the activity to your needs. If you are unsure of the best solution please just ask. If you would like to purchase more shots on the day, that maybe possible dependant on availability, please ask.

How long will I be on site?

This is dependant on the package booked but we ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your activities, and you will need at least 15 minutes from when the activities have finished to getting in your car.

Duration is dependant on your activity choices but as a rule of thumb, If you book one activity you will be roughly on site for 1hr 30 min, 2 activities just over 2 hours, 3 activities 3 hours and so on.

Minimum age

No license is required and there is no requirement specifically on age. You must however be physically able to hold the gun. For this reason we suggest a minimum age of 14 years. For those that struggle we will offer air rifles as an alternative.

Am I allowed to shoot?

The Firearms act of 1968 states you can shoot under supervision at any age. Under the current law you are allowed to handle a shotgun without a license under supervision from the license holder, as long as you have not received a previous conviction preventing you from doing so. If you are unsure please ask.

Do I need any license?

No license is required.

Am I insured?

Max Events carries £5 million public liability insurance. This covers us and you in the event of our negligence subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. By taking part in an activity you are accepting that there are risks, you are provided with all instruction necessary to complete the activity safely, if you choose to ignore our instructions and operate any equipment beyond your ability or the boundaries that we provide then you will not be covered, it does not cover you for acts of stupidity or if an incident arises beyond our control.

Medical, Physical concerns

Our Ranges are designed to be used with shooters in a standing upright position. One arm holds/supports the barrel, the other hand is used to control the trigger. It is a requirement for a participant to be able to control all these functions. We may in some cases be able to provide a lane for wheelchair users, please call to check. Any firearm we use does have an element of recoil which may aggravate an existing shoulder/collarbone injury. For your safety please contact us before your event day if any of your group has any Medical, Physical or Mental conditions or disabilities which might affect them taking part in the activities.

Can we operate in any weather?

Unfortunately we cannot control the weather. We work very hard to ensure your event runs smoothly and with the required activities in your booking. If we feel we have a health and safety issue we would try and make contact in the week prior to your arrival and offer some alternative suggestions. In extreme circumstances on the day we may have to offer an alternative activity which carries an equal or greater value. Please be aware no refunds will be made if we are open and you cannot make the event, for whatever reason

Do you provide any safety equipment?

Yes we provide all necessary safety equipment for each activity, as outlined by our insurance obligations.

I have my own gun, can I bring it?

Unfortunately not. Any gun needs to be inspected by a gunsmith prior to any operation.

Can I wear fancy dress?

Yes, so long as it does not have the potential to be caught in any moving parts, does not impair vision, means you are still wearing the correct footwear and safety gear.
